Genre: Sludge Metal
Year: 1996
The only sludge metal I ever used to listen to was prog sludge, so this album was quite a bit different for me. I really like how it combines the harsher, sludgy vocals I had grown to love, and heavy stoner metal riffing, with vocals and riffs that are more akin to grunge than anything else. So to me anyways, it's like if grunge went the extra mile in trying to sound dirty and heavy, which is awesome! I'd say it's a relatively accessible record, as the harsh vocals don't come into play as much as other sludge bands tend to use them. So check it out!
Samples:
Bleed Me An Ocean
New Death Sensation
Similar to: If Alice In Chains or Nirvana combined with early Mastodon.
